Helping People Stick- Part 1

412 Meeting | February 25, 2024, at 4pm | Helping People to Stick, Part 1

What are the 3 tasks of Sunday School?  Reach people, Teach People, Minister to People.

People stick when classes are sticky, and classes are sticky when class members invite.  Every Sunday School leader should lead their class to excel at invitation for three reasons.

1.   The Potential of Inviting.

“Almost half of church-goers who participate in small group or class joined that group because of a leader (17%) or member of the group (30%) invited them.  This fact alone reinforces the value of relationships in encouraging behavior change.  Joining a group is a change in practice.  Relationships are the most effective way to get others to join.”

Scott McConnell, Director of Lifeway Research

2.   The Plurality of Inviting.

  • Inviting People to Take Next Steps (Fishing in the Bathtub)
    • Inviting Absentees to Reconnect.
    • Inviting People to Connect through activities.
      • Activities allow you to “connect the unconnected”.
      • Activities allow you to reach out to chronic absentees.
      • Activities help your group members connect relationally outside of the groups Bible Study.

3.   The Periods of Inviting.
